Hello Teachers and Parents that know Teachers:

I have such great news for you. RI State Council on the Arts has a new program called Big Yellow School Bus Grant!
I have been waiting so long for this to happen and here it is! The RI State Council on the Arts; Big Yellow School Bus grant provides up to $400 to Rhode Island schools and pre-schools. The grant helps underwrite the cost of field trips to attend arts events such as live music, DANCE (BALLET) and/or theatre performances, exhibits and more, as well as the cost of coverage for teachers involved in the field trip. There must be an arts component for the trip.
Grant Requirements...
Application Deadline and Notification... no deadline but at least 45 days prior with request to event - The State Ballet of RI - Friday, May 14th, 2010 Giselle! Roberts Auditorium, RI College, Providence 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon.
(Project Ballet in Education) Seats - Free! Bus fund from RISCA $400!
Eligible Applicants RI K-12 tax exempt public or private schools.... only 1 application per fiscal year. (Giselle this year for grades 5-12, Coppelia in December for grades k-4 - suggestion)
So make your reservations asap because seats will go fast! And go to
http://www.arts.ri.gov/bus. It's just that easy this time.
Those of you that are not only teachers but are SBRI Alumni, I hope you will be a part of this very special Giselle by representing your years (such as '65-'75)with the company by either walking on in (1 of 3 shows) the "Hunting Party" in act 1 or letting us recognize you as alumni in the audience. When bringing your school children to the a.m. show, they would be stunned by your appearance! I hope to hear from all of you soon!

SBRI Field Trip
Artistic director, Herci Marsden, will guide students through a special performance explaining the music, the staging mechanics, the physical training of the dancers and facts about the ballet.

Explore Ballet Workshop
Choose from either an introduction to classical ballet through lecture and demonstration, followed by a mini performance or an experience in classical ballet where selected students participate in an actual ballet class conducted by Ms. Marsden.
