Project Ballet in Education

"Project Ballet in Education” is an opportunity to bring your students to the ballet.

Educators in Rhode Island:

On behalf of Ms. Herci Marsden, Artistic Director of The State Ballet of Rhode Island (SBRI), I would like to invite you to the SBRI’s Project Ballet in Education Spring performance! It is a major goal of The State Ballet and its supporters to reach out and educate all communities in the arts. Thanks to the generous support of our Project Ballet supporters, The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, Amica Insurance, Layered Security and the Citizens Bank Foundation, we are able to offer this program to your school at $2.50 per seat, a fraction of the normal cost. However, this year, we have seen budget crunches in the economy and a rising cost in transportation. We want to help. The ballet is offering a “pay what you can” admission towards its educational performance on Thursday, May 8 at 10:00 am at Roberts Auditorium, RI College in Providence.

As Executive Director and a former SBRI principal dancer, I can assure you that allowing your students to attend our 48th Spring Ballet Celebration on May 8th will be an educational experience unlike no other. As you’ve probably noticed in reading the postcard brochure provided, you and your students will enjoy dramatic, masterworks from the company’s extensive repertoire, such as the humorous school dance “Graduation Ball” and the eloquent “Swan Lake Divertissement” as well as the premiere of an original one act story ballet “Gansel & Hetal – A Sweet Family Fairytale” with dancing trees, birds, singing angels and cats along with a friendly witch and her dancing candy.

In addition to attending and learning about different ballets and aspects of the theatre, lesson plans and discussion questions can be provided to be used at your convenience.

Please call The State Ballet of Rhode Island at 401.334.2560, to reserve your seats now or you may email me at info@stateballet.com. Tickets will go fast.
